Computer Repair
My Computer Repair services can be divided into the following 3 categories:
Software
Software is the most common cause of problems that I see on computers that I repair. This includes anything from rogue programs to driver conflicts or registry issues.
Rogue programs, such as viruses and spyware, cause code to be executed without the user's permission. If viruses can gain control of the system, they can alter and remove files, change settings, and prevent a system from starting. Trojans are another rogue program that usually does nothing visibly harmful to the system. They open a backdoor through which other rogue programs can be installed without the user's knowledge or permission. Spyware can cause popups, new toolbars in your web browser, sluggish computer performance, and fake anti-spyware programs. These anti-spyware programs do nothing but simulate scanner. Do not enter your credit card information into them for any reason.
Rogue programs aren't the only cause of software problems in computers. Drivers are used to control hardware connected to your computer. Most drivers are tested by companies to ensure that they are free of conflicts with other software. Some drivers are incompatible with certain systems and can cause sluggish performance, crashes, and bluescreens.
Registry issues can also cause a wide variety of computer problems. With a corrupt registry, certain programs won't run, settings can change, and some hardware won't install.
If your computer is experiencing any of these symptoms please consider bringing it in for repair.
Hardware
Hardware problems aren't as common as software problems, but they can still occur. I can diagnose and replace most hardware problems. Even things like a broken fan can lead to further problems inside a computer. If the problem is caused by a failing harddrive, please consider bringing it in soon for backup and replacement. Once a harddrive fails completely, it is nearly impossible to recover the data off it.
Maintenance and Cleaning
Routine maintenance and cleaning are needed to ensure that you get the most out of your computer. This includes things such as vacuuming the dust out of them, clearing background programs, and speeding up startups. Most computers that are several years old will see a significant performance gain after being cleaned.
